An FBI spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Sunday that a glove found in connection with the Nancy Guthrie case, which contains a DNA profile from an unidentified man, stands apart from other gloves uncovered during the search and appears to correspond with the gloves worn by the person seen in surveillance footage.
Agents collected roughly 16 gloves from locations near the Guthrie residence. The spokesperson noted that many of these were disposable gloves worn by search teams and discarded during the sweep of the area.
The glove with the DNA profile is described as distinct and seems to match the gloves worn by the individual captured in the surveillance video.
Experts have observed that the person seen in the doorbell camera footage outside Nancy Guthrie’s home appears to be wearing gloves that resemble nitrile gloves placed over another layer of gloves.
The FBI said the gloves found in a field along a roadside about two miles from Guthrie’s home were packed by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and shipped overnight to a private laboratory in Florida. They arrived at the lab on Friday.
Preliminary results reached the FBI on Saturday, with officials indicating they are awaiting quality control checks and official confirmation before adding the unidentified male DNA profile to CODIS, the FBI’s national DNA database. The process, from receipt of a DNA sample to entry into CODIS, typically takes about 24 hours.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News on Sunday that DNA test results from the Florida lab are still pending and could take anywhere from one to ten days, depending on the urgency assigned to each item.
Nanos added that detectives gave priority to certain submissions but did not specify which items are accelerating or which results will come back first.
The FBI emphasized its ongoing readiness to assist according to the timelines provided by authorities involved in the case.
